China’s “Belt and Road” initiative aims to improve regional cooperation and promote regional connectivity. Now, Japanese logistics companies are also trying to transport goods through the “Central European Train” to make it easier to transport goods from Japan to Europe.
Chinatrans, the largest integrated logistics service provider in China, and Nissin Corp, a large Japanese logistics company, began cooperation in the summer of 2018 to jointly conduct a sea-rail combined transport test from the Far East to Western Europe via China and Central Asia.
From 2014 to 2017, the number of freight trains between China and Europe increased by nearly 12 times to 3,673 columns, of which two-thirds of the trains were destined for Europe.
The freight volume in the first eight months of 2018 has exceeded the freight volume for the whole year of 2017.
The National Development and Reform Commission of China stated that by 2020, the China-European Banley will operate around 5,000.
