Japan: First meeting with the European Union after the EPA came into effect

According to the Kyodo News Agency, the first joint committee meeting was held in Tokyo on the 10th, given that the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) came into force in February. Both parties expressed their expectation for further cooperation between Japan and Europe. As the EPA entered into force, tariffs on wine from the European Union were immediately lifted, and tariffs on cheese and pork began to decline. On the other hand, tariffs on cars exported from Japan are gradually declining, and tariffs will be lifted in the eighth year.
